The Southland towed the brig Sarah out over tho bar yesterday morning, to commence her return voyage to Newcastle. The Sarah took a few passengers with her, the preparations for whose accommodation had delayed her departure on the previous day, as was intended.

The Wallabi, which left Nelson on Saturday, at noon, had moderate S.B. winds all the way down and came toanehorsoon after midday yesterday, thus completing a very favorable voy;ige of only twenty-four hours. She brings a largo general cargo and sixteen passengers—six cabin and ten steerage. Besides her Westport loading 6he has a large cargo for Grcymouthjand Hokitika, for which she sails to-night. The Nelson was met at 7 o'clock on Saturday evening oIF Rocks Point, with the Charles Edward in tow, apparently all well.

The ketch Mary came into harbor yesterday morning, and moored alongside the Rambler, on the bench opposite the Wellington Hotel. She left Mokihinui at 10 the previous night, and brings the first cargo of Mokihinui coal. Her master, Alfred Stringer, reports the bar in excellent condition with ten feet water on it at half tide. On the day of the heavy tempest the vessel was heaved bodily up on to the wharf, but floated off again without injury.

The Murray left Nelson at 10 p.m. on Friday, with 20 head of cattle and a number of sheep, shipped by Mr Johnston, and arrived in port late on Saturday night. The cattle, which arc remarkably fine, were landed on the beach yesterday morning in first-rate order. The Beautiful Star, expected from Dunedin for some time past, made her appearance in the roadstead last evening and will probably enter the river this morning. It is supposed that she comes last from Wanganui, having been ordered to proceed there to fill up her fore-hold. Two large steamers passed outside within sight on Saturday, one of which was made out to be the Keera, on her return voyage no !': 'o Dunedin ; the other was the Nelson taking the Charles Edwards to Nelson. Wool Ships.—The Nelson Examiner of tho Ilth says—"The Cissy, with 2,100 bales of wool, and a full complement of passengers, will sail from Port Underwood early next week. The Dona Anita is fast getting on with her loading, and will get away next month, while the remainder "of the Marlborough clip, shipped at Port Underwood, ! will be taken by the Cffisarea, the latter vessel having engaged to proceed to Port Underwood on her return from Newcastle. The total shipment of wool by these three vessels will bo about .0,000 bales ; the remainder of the Marlborough clip—probably r.bout 1,500 j bales—being shipped through Wellington." CHARLESTON. AUTIIYALS. January 11—Standard, ketch, from Brighton, DEPxVUTTTKES. January 11—Ann, schooner, for Greymouth. VESSELS IN POUT. Schooners—Rapid, Ada. Ketch— Standard. On Saturday the tor was nearly as smooth, as the Post-office dam, but the Standard was the only vessel off the port to take advantage of ihe fine entrance.
