Melbourne, December.l 9. Some sensational evidence was given to-day when five of the crew of tlio English ship Hesperides were sentenced to three months' each for stealing cargo. Schultz, who turned Queen's evidence, stated that the accused had plotted to lay the blame on the captain's son,andgave details of another plot by three of the prisoners to blow up the ship after she arrived at Melbourne.

One iB alleged to havo said that, together with another man, he set fire to the ship Habitant, which was burned here sometime ago.
