SUICIDE IN NEWTOWN PARK.
About 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon, while three boys were playing among the scrub at the far end of Newtown Park, they came upon the dead body of a man lying on his i back, with a bullet-wound in the! forehead. A revolver lay at the man's feet, and three chambers were ', loaded, while one had evidently been' somewhat recently discharged. ' Enquiries made by the police | showed that the'body was that of< John Scott Mcintosh, 29 years of j age. Deceased had beon a clerk in the employ of Messrs Briscoe, | McNeil and Co., and in the' National Bank at Napier, but had been out of employment for about five months. .Recently this seems to have preyed on his mind, and he has been suffering from insomnia and eaten very little food. At 1.15 on Monday afternoon he left his home telling his wife lie was going to buy some bread, and was not afterwards seen alive. He had never been heard to say anything about taking his life, and it was not until yesterday morning that (he police were informed that lie was missing from his home,
Deceased was only married last February, his wifo being a daughter of the late Mr Paul Kingdon, well known in this city. He leaves no family, hut it is to be resetted that Mrs Mcintosh if near her confinemcut.—N.Z. Times.
