THE RECIPROCITY THE TREATY

Beceiccd November 2, UM u.m, Sydney, Novomber 1. The commercial editor of the Sydney Daily Telegraph strongly condemned the South Australian-N.Z. commercial treaty at the time of its rejection, but a leading article in the, same paper this morning referring to the passing of the Bill ratifying the agreement, says it is a movement in tho right direction, the consequences of which will impress consumers and teach tho wisdom of expanding the application of the free-tradepriiiciple. Tho educational effect will probably be more than an' off-set against any illwill which the treaty might cause amongst the sectional interests against intercolonial freelrade. The possibilities of what illwill might accomplish is conjectural, while the expansion of trade will be real.
