MR WARD AND THE PRESS.
, A THREATENED ACTION, By TtUgmpk.—Pmi Jisoeialwn. a Wjmjkotoh, Wednesday. Tho Houbo met at eleven, Mr B. Thompson asked the Treasurer if h* had seen a paragraph in last night's Post to the effect that Mr Ward had met Mr Murray (late General Manager of the Bank of New Zealand) on board the Hauroto, and that Mr Ward s statement to the contrary was absolutely nntrue. Mr Ward said the statoment in the papor was absolutely untrue, and diametrically opposed to facta. He might say ho had given instructions to his solicitors in Wellington to take action against the paper in question, Mr Ward then read voluminous oorrospondence on the subject, including letters letters from Messrs Henry McKenzie, Watson, andlMurray, all of whom denied that Mr Ward had met Mr Murray in their company »b had been alleged. Correspondence between Mr Duthie (who had made original statement in the House) and Mr Ward was also read.
