FEATHERSTON NEWS.

From Our Own Correspondent. Featherstox, Friday. The Committee appointed by tho Town Board to deal with the tenders for the removal and re-construction of the shed on the cricket ground met on Wednesday evening, when the following tenders were received: A. Bicknell, £24 7s; J. Robertson, £l7 10s. Tho latter tender was accepted. The quarterly meeting of tho vestry was held on Wednesday evening, the Rev. A. V. Grace being in the chair, and the following vestrymen present: Rev. T. Porritt, Messrs J. G, Cox, W, Benton, H. C. Smith, and Kent-Johnston. The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £6 2s 3d, and accounts amounting to £1 2s were passed for payment. The vestry was authorised to got twenty-live copies of the Church Chronicle, The Treasurer reported that already £63 2s 9d was promised towards the now church. It was resolved that tendors should be called in December for the lease of the church sito in Fox-strcot from January Ist, as the agreemont with the Education Board terminated on December 31.

A meeting of subscribers to the new library and reading room, was held on Thursday owning iu the Town Board offico, about twenty subscribers being present. It was resolved that the name of the new building should bo the Featherston Library Institute, and that an account be opened at the Bank of Australasiain that name, and that Mr Knowlesho Treasurer. Also that.tho building cost about £250, and that operations should not be started until £2OO is in the Bank, That a Building Committee be appointed, consistingof the Provisional Committee,the members of the Town Board, the Clerk, and Messrs Matthews and Monckton, Mr Williamson was appointed Secretary to thecommittee. Votos of thanks were passed to all who subscribed, also to Mr H. D. Bell, whose cheque for £2 2s Mr Porritt laid on tho table.
