o I From Our Omi Correspondent, I Fkatherstos, Wednesday. ; Yesterday afternoon the new ■ cheese factory of the Fcatherston ■ Co-operative Dairy Company was 1 formally opened though it started ' receiving milk on the day before. 1 At tho invitation of the Directors about two hundred visitors sat down | to a most sumptuous luncheon which , was kid out in a most artistic stylo in the curing room of the factory, Mr Buchanan, M.H.R,, who was present declared the factory open. The dimensions of the factory are as follows:—Receiving stage 14ft x 10ft; making room 26ft x 30ft, i confining two vat-B lb'ft i 'lft, and : 20ft, and two Frazer's gang presses; curing room 30ft x iOft; packing ■ room 18ft x 24ft. On Monday there was 6401bs of cheese made, and yes--1 terdaj 7101bs, 1 The first clioeso taken out of tho press, was put on the table, and weighed 801bs. The following toasts , wore proposed and duly honoured: - i The Dairying Industry, coupled with i the name of Mr Coleman Phillips. Old Settlers, coupled with the namo of Mr Spearink. Tho Featherston Dairy Company, coupled with the names of Messrs Buchanan and Cameron. The Wairarapa Dairy 1 Companies, coupled with tho name of Mr Jas. Donald, Onr Visitors, ' coupled with the name of Mr J. G. Cox. Tho Chairman, and last but not not least, the Secretary, Mr Bock, Mr Murray Jackson, (Chairman of Directors), was Chairman, and was supported on the right by Mr Buchanan and Coleman Mr Phillips, and on tho left by Mr W. R.; Cameron (of Cameron & Co., Dunedin),audMrJ Gr.Coi. Everything went off with eclat, and a most enjoyable day was spont,
