Greenaway, actor, recently from New Zealand, was to-day charged with the larceny of £3from R. C. Greenwood of Auckland, The defence was that the money was obtained as a week's salary in advance on an engagement made with the prosecutor for a tour of New Zealand. Both the' accused and his wife gave ovidence, and alleged that the whole thing was the outcome of malice, The Magistrate decided to cable to the New Zealand police to see if the money had been sent as salary, and intimated that if this was so he would release the prisoner
