COLLISION OFF WELLINGTON HEADS.
THE DAMAGE TRIPLING. Bit Tdtgmph-rtm Auodation. Napier, Tuesday, The steamers Flora and Wakatipu came into collision as they were leaving Wolliugton heads yesterday afternoon. To those on the Flora it appeared as though the Wakatipu approached too dose, and to avoid being ran into her helm was ported," causing her stern to swing round and strike the Flora amidships. The only damage was that the Wahtiputo sfarbpard lifeboat was smashed "to pieces. 'The'boat was past adrift, and 'the steamers went on without stopping. The passengers on both vessels were greatly alarmed for a moment, but were quickly assured by the officers that there was no dauger. Mr Mills, Manager of the Union Company, was on board the Wakatipu, and Mr Houghton, the Company's Inspector, on board the Flora.
