GREYTOWN NEWS.
From Our Qicn Correspondent, Gretiown, Friday. It is rumoured here that Mr H. Duddinct intends to contest the Mayoralty here, There iB not tho slightest doubt but that Mr Dudding would mako a capital Mayor, as he is a thoroughly experienced jnan in local Board uiattors. ' The gardens and orchards down this way are looking remarkably well and there is a prospect of it fruitful harvest this season, The " Pinafore" announced to lake place hero on the 28th hut, will doubtless be well attended by the public, so tho " youngsters" tifjfeg part in the performance may a good reception from our folk,' The building trade seems to bo tooking up in Carterton. A good number of buildings aie now in course of erection. Tho Grey town Horticultural Society, which always held the! premier position in the Valley for successful shows, son\e years ago,, has now quite died o.ut, If a 6trong committee were formed, and the
Society worked up again, shows heie, as in past years, would becomo ns attractive and successful as ever. The sale of Trust properties takes place to-morrow, and should attract spirited competition.
