FINANCE COMMITTEE. Tho Fiwinco Committeo met yesterday morning. Present Crs Maunscll (chairman), Stnckey, F. von * A&wlen, Smith, Beelham and Guild. > -Wtlio minutes of the previous meet- ' ing were read and confirmed. The Treasurer reported ns follows Bank General Fund Account, dr. £529 Ms <kl; L.B.L. Account, cr, £132 lis 3d; net debit', £397 As Id. Accounts show a dr. balance of £439 2s 7d, j The receipts since Sept. 12th amounted to £1204 13s 2d,including rates £6(35 13s 7d; D.P, thirds from Eketahuna Road Board, £l2l 2s lOd; refund of engineering expenses— Masterton Road Hoard, £249 19s 8d; Mauriceville Road Board, £l3l 13s(id; Taratahi-Cur-tcrton Road Board, £OB 17s 10(1; total, £440 lis. Tho balance sheet for the half ending 30th Sept., 1893, was laid on the table. Accounts amounting to £4lO 8s 3d were recommended for payment. On the motion of Cr von Reden, seconded by Cr Smith, it was resolved to recommend that tho sum of £9B, lying to tho credit of the likeiahutia- ' jte Nui Road loan of £330, interest iffeount, be placed on fixed deposit, for twelve months. The application of Mr Waddington, in reference to reducing the rateable value of the section pur-i chased by him from Mr R. Wilton, was held over, and the Clerk was instructed to ascertain the amount of insurance on the building de- ' strayed. It was resolved to postpone the application of Mr J, Council for forage allowance, and enquiry to he made to ascertain if there are any special eircumstaces which would warrant the Committee in taking a * favourable view thereof.
