From Our O/ra Correspondent. Monday. A meeting of Stewards of the Wairarapa Racing Club was held at the Tauhereuikau Hotel on Saturday afternoon, Present—Messrs W, B. Bidwill (clmirman), Wilkinson, J. S. Gundy, Nix, G. 'fully, Morrison, W. 0. Williams, R. Bright ' The Treasurer reported a debit balance of £2lO lis 4d, and accounts amounting to £l2 2s 2d were passed for payment. It wasresolved to purchase one of Messrs Bright and Morrison's starting machines at £2O, also to give £5 towards repairs on the Moroa track, further, that the new track at Tauheronikau should be grassed at once. The Secretary reported having obtained the permit for the summer meeting. Mr A. R. MacFarlane's lender for two totalisators for the summer meeting was accepted,

A meeting of tho Provisional Committee of tho new library and reading room was held at the Kov. T. Porritfc's residence on Saturday last. Present—Rev. Porritl, and Messrs Matthews, Toogood. Kont-Jolmston, Knivin, 'fait, Robertson, and Williamson (Secretary). Mr Williamson reported that £2lO was already promised out of £250 desired, aud it is considered that there will not bo any diUiciiltyinobtainingtho balance. Messrs Toogood, Matthews and Porritt were appointed a Committee to wait on the Town Board and ask their co-operation in the movement. Mr Matthews, who is giving the site and £IOO, is quite willing to vest tho land in the Town Board, should they so desire it.
