The Minister for Justice said that the statute provided for the release of a prisoner when of sound mind, but tlio Government would see that Somcrville was not discharged without cyidonee that would warrant it.

There was a fairly well attended meeting of the Mastorton Blue and White League, held at Oxford House last evening, when the licv. J. Dukes conducted the meeting, and gave an instructive and interesting address to tlic members.
Messrs Harcourtand Co., of Wellington, have received instructions to sell by auction oil the 25th instant, a block of 857 acres at Wainuiorn, fifteen miles from Gladstone, held under the small grazing run tenure. The land has been partly improved ; 170 acres of bush being felled and grassed, which more than fulfills the improvement conditions to date. The block consists of good rolling country of which all parts can be ridden over, and will carry when cleared at least two sheep per acre.
