ADJOURNED MEETING.

The adjourned meeting of the Masterton Licensing Committee, was held to-day. Present—Mr T. Hutchison, S.M. (Chairman), 0. B. Daniell, T. E, Chamberlain, F. Bright, J. Dawson, A. Stewart, J. Hessey and Bernt Syyerson. f THE (IRASSEXDALE HOTEL. ."> Mr W. A. Burling appeared to show causo why his license should 'not be cancelled. Mr Pownall, for Mr Bnrling, stated that his client had to admit bis absonco from tho hotel, but be was ignorant, to some oitent, of the fact that ho should reside constAjy on the premises. W. J. Burling, on oath, stated that he had to goont workingto assto to produco means for the paymfift of a heavy mortgage. Witness also explained that his absence from the annual meeting was due to the fact that formerly it was not necessary to appear in applying for a renewal of a license. HehadsignedaleaßijJo Mr Mcintosh, and Mrs Burling had also signed as trustee for the childron.

Mr Powimll suggested that as an alternative, a transfer be granted to Kenneth Mcintosh.

After consideration the Chairman said that the Committee had decided to giant a temporary transfftto Kenneth Mcintosh, and tbifthe transfer was granted in consequence only of the fact that the interestfof a third party would suffer irnot granted.. Also that the costs inmured jn relation to the notice of motion to show"cause'• (£1- '9s) be paid'by the applicant; and further, that the'applicant pay the costs' of tho present meeting to'the County Clerk, viz., £8 1%; ' ■■"■■■■ 1
