CORRESPONDENCE
THE' CRACKED-NUT' TARIFF. [to the editor.] Sis,—On the Ist October the new rates of insurance como into force, and thero are a number of renewal premiums falling due this mouth which ought to participate in the benefits (if any) under tho new scheme. Do you know if thore is any truth in the rumour that tho Companiesonly intend collecting any additional premiums under the new tariff, and not refunding any overpaid? Tho Fire Underwriters' Association has, I understand, sent an Inspector of Technical Education, to open a night-class for local Insurance Ageuts, to afford them a means of gradually learning tho intricate and voluminous tariff, and twelve months' hard study will enable the extra-intelligent agents to mastor fiomo of the rudiments of this " double-yon ex-wise-head" production. Pending the enlargement of Poriraa Asylum, it has not been thought advisable to furnish particulars of the new tariff to Insurance Apents, especially in view of the muddle and bewilderment, occasioned by the" cocoa-nut tariff" throughout the Colony,—l have, etc., Insdkkd. Masterton, Septomber 20th, 1895.
