OPAKI NOTES.

From Our Own Correspondent.

Tuesday Tho good people of tho UK have nothing to complain of latly in regard to amusements, for what with dances and ofchoi entertainments they have beon well in it. I think I told you in my last that tho Quadrille Assembly was in a rather tight fix for a shed in which to hold their social, or long night, owing to Mr H. Remington's shed having been burnt. Mr JI. Welch happily came to tho rescue, and on Friday night, 6th September, :i most enjoyable dance was held in his shed, about thirty couples taking advantage of it, and dancing being kept in full swing till near daylight. Mr W. Stoodloy supplied the music, and Mrs H. Remington provided the supper, which J must say was a credit to all concerned, and the way in which tho good things vanished was astonishing. A number of good songs were sung during the evening, and taken altogether the affair was a great success. On Wednesday, the 11th September, a first-rate entertainment waß givon in Mr A. McLeod's wool-shed, theperformance being "Whittington and His Cat."
