After tho conclusion of tho business at the quarterly meeting of tho Wairarapa Licensing Committee, Mr G. A. Fairbrotber moved nnd Mr T. Proctor seconded " That in the opinion of this Committeo notwithstanding tho gonorally favourable reports of the police, there are houses in tho district where licensees do not observo tho provisions of the Licensing Act as to the proper hours of closing." Tho motion \yns carried on a division. Ayes-Messrs Considino, Fairbrotber, Stevens, Proctor and Miller ; noes—Messrs Grace, Bunny and Donald.

Tho Chairman said he would refrain from voting, because it would pledge him to a statement on which he might have to adjudicate. A horse being driven by Mr It, E. Horublow in a gig on Tuesday afternoon was seized with gripes and foil down.
