A PROSPECTOR MURDERED.

News has reached Cooktown from New Guinea of the murder of Clarke, leader of the Cairns prospecting party.
Clarke was in a boat minding the arms, and was being towed up tho Clyde River by his comrades who were ashore.
Tho Natives out the line and clubbed Clarke and destroyed the arms.
The remainder of the party escaped. The Government party was also attacked by the Natives.
