SPIRITUALISM CONFIRMED.

AN EXTRAORDINARY EXPERIENCE. Por many years past, tho writer of this article has beon more or less inclined towards spiritualistic: principles, but, owing to the exposure of delusions on various occasions, has, almost up to the. present, been wrapped in a cloud of incredulity, VVliilo studying tho subject, I became familiar with most of the astounding phenomena bearing on this misty region, and as years passed I found the subject occupying my sole attention, and I was dwelling in the midst of a keon conflict between facta and doubts j and by degrees I commenced to doubt my senses and speculate as to whether I was the dupe of hallucination and legerdemain, After reading the condemning report of the Soybert Commission and other exposures, I resolved to devise aplnu by which I might gain proof of the existence or non-existenco of the supposed spirit world; anil, after much deliberation, hit upon the plan of arranging with ah aged relative, who entertained the same doubts, to write some secret words, which were carefully sealed and placed in a safe with two keys which wero secretly hidden, ■

Four years later, the only possessor of this knowledge, passed over to the great majority, and after waiting as low; as my patience allowed, I resolved to solve the misty problem through tho medium of slate-writing. Up to this period my nerves had shown no sign of weakness, and now when so much devolved on ono small point, I found myself almost afraid of the task; but I was resolved to see it out, and ere long found myself seated in my library over my slate, and with pencil in hand; but owing to the suspense, the anxiety and anticipation, I was almost incapable of putting tho initial question:— "Is the spirit of - present ?"

For a considerable time 1 remained silently passive, and the longer I remained the more nervous I became. My breath came thick and hot, and tho beating of my heart shook my entire frame; but still I kept the pencil in position, and eventually my hand made several involuntary and erratic moyements, and succeeded in forming the letters, 'Y-E-s.' With trembling hand I made the next inquiry:— " What were tho secret words you wrote and placed in the safe ?" This time the reply came more promptly, but my nerves started so convulsively, that it was with the utmost difficulty I managed to keep my hand upon tho slate while it wrote the all-important words : " Saperb Audi'," For half-an-hour my eyes remained transfixed to the irregular characters, and a burning desire to gain access to the safe aud compare those mysterious words with the secret ones, took possession of me: but having no knowledge of language other than English, the words were unintelligible, and might have been meaningless, so I put the question again, and was utterly cast down on finding that the first spasmodic movement of my hand clearly described the letter "D," which was followed by "a-r-e-t-o-ii-e-w-i-s-e "

" Dare to be Wise."

This was bewildering! and beforo making further inquiries, I consulted 11 friend who, to my intense relief, informed me that the two replies were identical—" Sapere Aude" being the Latin for" Daro to be Wise."

Thus encouraged, I returned to my library and put the next question :

" Where shall I find the keys of the safe ?"

Promptly and clearly came the reply; and soon I bad possession of the keys, I was now perfectly satisfied! Whatf nrther proof could be desired ? Every vestige of doubt had melted away like mist beforo the sun; but still a sense of curiosity tempted mo to hurry to the safe, which on being opened, was found to contain but one small slip of paper, whereon wero clearly written the words, " Sapere Aude."

This confirmed all. I was under the influence of the very ecstasy of gratification, For hours I continued to put questions; all of which were satisfactorily answered. Days, weeks, months were thus spent without anything happening to break my faith. At length I determined to put the discovery to practical use, and asked :

" Can you not give me ;omo advice by which I may be benefitted F"

" Yes," was the reply; " this is a question which is put to every spirit, and the answer is always the same: " Use Warner's Safe Cure." We can give no better advice.
