CORRESPONDENCE.
THE MASTERTON POLICE. | [to the editor.] Sir,—ln your issue of Monday last I noticed a short sub-lender touching upon tho recent burglaries ' and the Jlastcrton police staff, and I must state that I quite agree with all you have said. In my opinion the officers are a thoroughly incapable lot, and I honestly believe that the local police station could bo burglarised without an arrest being effected. The action of the police in one or i two recent episodes, notably the j i capture of the "desperado," shows plainly their inefficiency, and an | entire change is not only desirable,, but it is imperative, Thanking you in anticipation, I am, etc., C. T. Moore. Masterton, September 3,1895. •
The Minister of Lands stated yesterday, in answer to Jlr Hogg, that the Government were finding land for working classes to settle on under the improved farm system as fastas possible Lack of suitable land and want of funds we the difficulties in the way. We remind shooting men of the North Wairarapa Gun Club's pigcou match 'o-morrow. One ot the sights of Wellington, at auy time is undoubtedly the magnificent eatablishmcat.known as To Aro House, and now that every department within its walls is filled to overflowing with a bewildering variety of the season's novelties in millinery, mantles, drosses, etc,, it is more than ever a pleasure and profit to visit the wholesale family drapery warehouse, Te Aro Honee, Particular attention has been paid this ' fear to the requirements of country customas, and the result is to bo Eccn in the ' immense and varied stock of calicoes, shirtings, flannels, flannellettcs, strong tearing dress materials, men's and boys' ilofhing, A'c. The choice in each depart, nent, is almost unlimited, as may be magined, when it is stated that of flannel- ' Jtte alone, over 50,000 yards have this icason been imported at Te Aro House, SVellingtoa.—Advt, If you study practical economy you will ouy your drapery nnd clothing at. Hooper's Bon Marche. You ask why ? We'll tell rou why 1 You've twenty pounds to spend )r twenty shillings if you like. • Your object $ to get all you require for the money you iave, If you buy of Hooper's you will get ill you determined to secure and a bit left [or someibing else. Also you will get the jest of everything; tho goods of standard nanufacturew. If you buy elsewhere your ,wenty pounds or twenty shillings, as the ;aso may be, will not go as for as you thought and you will either have to sink the pialityorshidl out more cash, Will that iuit yon ? We trow not. You're no fool; fou'vo been wandering up and down this jlessed world for years and you know your look. One may say this is only assertion, there's your proof? We reply, use your :yos, exercise your judgment and criticise ind compare, and your verdict must bo for Hooper & Co., ready money drapers, Bon MatcM, Msstertcra, -Advt.
