COMMERCIAL.
Mr F. H. Wood had a very large attendance at tho stock sale, held at his Taratahi yards yosterday. Not many sheep wero yarded, but a largo number of cattle came forward, principally dairy stock, for which latter there was a good demand, in fact the bidding throughout was spirited, prices showing a hardening tendency and ruling as under:—Sheep: hogSots, 6s M to 8s od., A specially good lino of Romney owe hoggets realised 10s Gd; fatewosand wethers, mixed, 10s j fat wethora (medium), lis 3d. Cattle: dairy cows, £4loa to £6 7s Gd; hoifors, springing, ,-£3 10s to £7 2s Gd; yearling steers, 40s; do heifers, 85s to 40s; 21-year-old steors, £3 to £4; calves, IGs to 30s. Pigs: slips, Gs 9d to 10s. D.CREWE'S WEEKLY REPORT On Tuosday, August 27th, 1 hold my usual fortnightly sale at Pahiatua. The outry of stock was up to tho average. The attendance of the public was largo, and bidding for good classes of stock was spirited, Inferior sorts wore noglected. The following pricos wero roalisod:— Ewes in lamb, mixed ages, 5s 4d; dairy cows, springing to oalvo, good class, £5 5s to £5 10s; cows, late to calvo, £3 lis to £4; dry cows, £2 10b to £2 17s 6d; 18 to 21-month-old heifers, £2 6s Gd ; calves, 9s; fat oows, good quality, £4 10a; forward steers,' £5 2s Gd ; pigs, weanors, 3n 3d to 3a 9d. On Saturday, the 31st, I hold my usual produce and miscellaneous sale! at the Hart. There w,as a good attendance. . Ridding dragged very much, and sales were only effected at reduced rates from last sales. The following prices wero realised: --Potatoes, £2 5s to £2 10s per ton; onions, to Id per lb; fowls, 2s 6d to 3s per pair. For odds and ends thero was a good competition, good prices being realised throughout, During the week I have quitted good lines of fat stock at last sale rates, also a line of good hoggets at OS 6d. I havo enquiries for fat sheep, also good class of dairy cows. My next horse sale takes placo at Pahiatua on Saturday, 7th September, for which I am now receiving entries.
