■» ... From Our Own Correspondent. Monday. , eft meeting of Directors of the local Mft'se factory was held on Saturday evening when the appointment of Mr H. D. Dawson as manager out of 18 applications was confirmed. His duties commence on the 14th inst. Messrs E. Kelly's and D. Alexandor's tenders for contracts 22 and 23 respectively have been accepted by the Featherston Road Board for a 12ft formation instead of 14ft with the approval of the Wellington Land Board. The funeral of the late Mr W. v Urquhart took place on Friday last and was attended by about a hundred friends. The servico at the grave was condncted by the Rev, Mr Sussex. Mr W. G. Henry, who is sinking an artesian well for Mr W, E, Bidwill, and who has got down 180 ft Las becu stopped by a big log which isgiviug great trouble to gettlirough. The" usual monthly meeting of the Loyal Unity Lodge of Oddfellows > was held on Saturday night last. »re was a very poor attendance, Treasurer reported a credit balance of £29 8s lOd.
