WESLEYAN HOME MISSION.

There was a large audience at the Mastcrton Wosleyan Church last night, when Home Mission matters were brought under review. Mr C. R Daniell occupied the chair and Mr ltivo "(secretary) read tho report from which we gather that sixteen Homo missionaries'haye been employed in various parts of tho colony during the year, towards whose support'tho sum of £287 10s has been voted from tho fund. Twonty-four English circuits havo received aid amounting to £513 10s, while the Maoii work was a charge upon the fund of £873 ISs. Pressure on our space forbids further details. The total income for tho past year amounted to £2353 4s 7d, nnd the oxpendituro4o£2s9oßsßd. Tho mooting was addressed by the ! deputation (theljqv. Dr. Hosking, of Ohristchuroii), who'forfutly.an'iiour riyetted the attention of tho audilence; his sallies of wit and wisdom 'were both racy and refreshing, Messrs Pybns and Hollicgs also gave interesting addresses'; the former on "Tho importance of maintaining tho Maori work," and'of .carrying the Gpspel to. the sparsely-populated 'districts; aud the latter on "The social and the.pommercial benefits of the propagation of the' Gospp)." The meeting was very enthusiastic throughout, and on all hands it was acknowledged to bo the best Home Mission Meeting over held in the Church, Tho choir was in attendance, and rendered sovoral anthems in capital style. On the motion of the Pastor, votes of thanks were accorded to tho deputation, other Bp'uakmty the choir, and the chairman. '■•'■•;.
