[By Damocles.] The second match of the College Tournament—Nelson v. Wellington, . waswitnesied by about 600 pooplo. The Wellington team had its opponents in trouble from the kick off, but bad passing at times nullified tho ndvantagegnined, M'Keniio.M'Am, Buddie and Smith, wore very conspicuous for good work on the local side. There was no score in tho first spell, In the second half, • tho Nolson College boys fell to pieces, and/20 points were registered against Edwnrds got a try, and Hales landed a fino goal from a • penalty kick. Payton, M'Ara, Paletliorpe and Kember, socurod tries. Halos, by a fine kick, increased tho score obtained by Palethorpe. Nelson wa6 unable to score. Great interest is boingtaken in tho match North i>, South, to be played by tho Thursday Union teams, at Carterton, noit Thursday, at 3 o'clock sharp. In the northern team, Pftikvalo havo 8 representatives, and tho Whito Stars 7; whilst for tho 4 south, 9 are chosen from the Rovers aud 6 from Featherston. Wairarapa and Wellington meet v in Jlaaterton on the 14th September, It is stated that several radical changes will be made with the composition of the Wairarapa team for the match, and it is to be hoped a . good stand may be made, as Wellington has proved themselves to be one of the strongest teams in the Colony. Our Union should arrange practices every Saturday till the 14th, and keep the men in form. Otherwise the city team will win easily. The Thursday Junior" Reps" are about to challenge the Wairarapa Juniors, the former are confident of victory. The district champions for the present season hold a compliriien-1 tary Ball at Greytown to-morrow Eing, and a large number of sts from this end of the Valley dto be present. A number of presentations will bo made daring tho evening. ' Tho Lyitclton Times, referring to the Canterbury-Wairarapa match, says i— I The play was somewhat peculiar; in the first spell Canterbury assumed a decided lead, and rail up four tries before the interval, the visiting team although showing good individual play, seemed to lack combination. In tbo 6econd spell tho cardinal-and-blues got together better aud showed more of their true form, and the Canterbury forwards apparently relaxing their efforts a littie, no Score was made by either ' side in that spell, Wairarapa, if anything, Laving the better of the play,
