NORTH WAIRARAPA GUN CLUB.

PIGEON MATCHES. The North Wairarapa Gun Club held sweepstake matches at Messrs Lowes aud Irons' sabyards yesterday afternoon. The weather was all that could be desired, and the birds rose from the traps to perfection. The first match was a ten bird one and Mr Hives won, killing all his birds, Mr E. M. D. Whatman being second, The next match (of seven birds) was won by Messrs Hives, Mackersey, and E. Welch, who tied with seven

birds each, and decided to divide. The fivo bird sweepstake, which followed, was won by Mr A, P, Whatman, Mr J. J.Mackersoy being second. The Club put up a record for au afternoon's sport by holding the three matches, which reilects mostcreditably on thecareful management and excellent arrangements of the Secretary, Mr W. R, Bone.
