MASTERTON-OPAKI JOCKEY CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. Tho annual meeting of members of tho Masterton-Opaki Jockey Club, was held last evening at the Club lli>t«l. Present Messrs A. W. Cave (President), W. Cameron, A. Henderson, Jas. Mair, J. Mowlein, F, Hill, J. Maiidel, G, Townaeiid, J. Caselberg, H. Yates, W. Hawko, T. G. Mason, and G. Drummond.
MINUTES, The minutes of tho previous meet' iug wore read and continued.
DALAXCE SHEET. Tho balance-sheet for tho year 1894-95 was read and adopted. Tho balance-sheet showed tho receipts for the year to be £1095 7s 7d, and included salo of privileges, £154 12s 9d; totnlisator, £48418s 4d; grandstand, £59 lis (id; rent, £7712s Gd; nominations, etc., £257 ss; members subs, £7B; which, with the balance from the previous year (£ 11G 15s lid) made a grand total of £1212 3s Gd.
The most important items of expenditure were: interest, £ll2 17s lid; salaries, £4O; Government Tax, £7l 14s 2d; stakes, £009; debentures redeemed, £2O; the balance to credit being—cash in hand and in bank, £77 14s 7d; doposit in Building Societv, £80; total credit, £l6l 14s 7d, * The assets and liabilities of tlio Club stand as follows:—The total assets amount to £191)7 Is lid, and liabilities £lOsl 9s Gd, leaving a klanqe in favor of the Club of £315 12s ud.
This was considered a very satisfactory result on the work of the past year, seeing that very valuable and permanent improvements lmd been made to the Club's property. The auditors, in their report, submitted "That the totalisator investments should not pass through the books of the Club, as they form no part of the actual businesi of the Club."
ELECTION* OK OFFICERS. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President— Mr A. W, Cave; Vice-Presidents— Messrs Jas. Maeara and Joseph loins; Judge—llr C. F. Vallance; Secretary—ilr E. 11-. Waddington; Hamlicapper—Mr J. E. Henry; Clerk of Scales—llr T. Shaw; Clerk of Course—Mr W, lorns; Timokeeper—Mr J. Muir; StewardsMessrs J. Mowlem, A. Henderson, F. Hill, G. 11. Yates E. E, Chamberlain, A. Walker, W. 11. Buick, G: Drr.mmond, J. Mandel and T. J), Thompson. The appointment of Starter was discussed, and its was generally admitted that the. starting machine should bo used, and it was decided to leave the matter in the bands of the Stewards.
Treasurer-Mr A. A. Elkins; Auditors—Messrs Dalrymple and Hathaway.
PROGRAMME. It was decided that the programme be left iu the hands of the Stowards with full power to make and adopt the same, This course was considered the more necessary as it was ioiiud tlint the programme should be submitted for the approval of the Metropolitan Club without delay, DATE Of AXXQI, MEETING, • On the motion of Mr W. Cameron seconded by Mr 11. Yates it was resolved in future to hold the annual meeting 011 the last Wednesday in July. XEW MEMIIKIU. The following new members were elected 011 the motion of the President : Messrs Guthrie, Pinhey, Haka, A. Stempa, Syverston, D, It. Robinson, F, Green, D, Hartley, Creelman, Gregg, T. Smith, W, White, C. Matthews and Pilmer. STAKES. Mr J. Mandel proposed and Mr Hill seconded, that for the future all stakes be paid out at 11 o'clock 011 the day following the race meeting. —Carried. ih:iik.nti:iies. The question of balloting out debenture-holders, was raised, and it was decided to ballot out two of the debenture-holders, G, 11, Yates and Mrs Wagg being those drawn, TUE I'KESIDEXT Mr Mandel paid a high compliment to the President, for the active interest lie took in the Club, as instanced by the large numbers of new membors he so regularly obtained every year. On the motion of Mr W. Cameron, seconded by Mr J, Mandel, it was decided to accord to the President (Mr A. W, Cave) a hearty voto of thanks, and that lie be mado the recipient of a suitable present. This concluded the business of tho annual meeting,
