Jlr F. H. Wood (notwithstanding the inclemency of the weather) had n large attendance at the stock sale held by him at the Turatahi yards yesterday, buyers coming from Wellington, iliitt and Kaitoke, as well as from all parts of tho Wairarapa. Several entries did not, however, come forward, owing to the very rough weather. There was a good demand for dairy stock, and an improvement in prices. Sheep ruled at abou. latt sale rates. Prices are quoted as under:-Sheep: Fat wethers, lis«nl to 'l2a (Id; ewes in lamb, (is to Us (id; hoggets, poor J culls, Is 5d to 4s. Cattle: Dairy cows, £.lss to £5 Ids; store cows, 30s to 00s; calves, 20s to 255. U.CREWE'S WEEKLY REPORT. At l'aliiatua on Tuesday, August 13th, tho yards were well filled with cattle. Many mora came forward than were advertised, every cattle pen being filled. There was a good attendance of the public, and the bidding for good classes of stock was. ispirited, nearly every lino selling under the hammer. The following prices were realised:—Dairy cows, good, £5 2s (id to £0 as; secondclass springers, ;S-t 10s to £5 ; backward calving cows, £3 10s to £4; dry cows.empty, £2 17s fid to £3los; dairy heifers in calf, £3 17s Gd to £\ ss; empty heifers. £3 os to £3 15s; fat cows, £4 to £i 10s: fatowes, 7s Cd; young store pigs, Gs 3d, During the week enquiries for store cattle have been more active, and I liavo placed several lines at last stock sale rates. The produce market also has been more active, many consignments having changed hands at Inst quotations. On Saturday, the 17th, the tree sale was well attended, and bidding active for fruit trees. The poultry also attracted good competition and sold at the following rates:—Fowls, 2s Cd per pair; turkeys, Os per pair. There was not sufficient to supply the demand.
