GREYTOWN NEWS.
From Our Own Correspondent. Monday. A. L. Webster, Town Clerk, was arrested here on Saturday, on the information of Mr Carlile, Government Auditor, with embezzling £7-1 odd and other sums belonging to the Groytown Borough Council. He was brought up before Messrs C. W. Hornblow and J. D. Heagerty, J.l'.'s, and admitted to bait until noon to-day,when the case will be furthor. heard, Bail was allowed, himself £IOO, and two securities of £SO each. The affair lias caused ipiite a sonsation here, Tho Rev. Clias. Murray preached a most touching and impressive sermon in the Presbyterian Church last uight referring to the sad death of the late George Loader. Tho funeral of tho young man Loader took place yesterday afternoon, being well attended. The service at tlio grave was very impressively conducted by the Rev. , J. Hewson. JBjTlio search party who went out in Kirch of the two Hobinau brothers who were lost in the ranges, returned on Saturday afternoon, after being away for a period of three days. Messrs Dick Savers and John Waterson, sent - ., drove the party home. The names of the search party are:—A. Kenipton, Win. and Walter Hobman, P. Hawke, K. Cook, J. Hannah, Dare Kiddie, and another.
