There will, unfortunately, be some trouble in sending astrong representative tciiui to Cliristcliurcli, owing to dissatisfaction among players regarding the deposit for expenses demanded. At a meeting of the Red Star Club, held on Saturday evening, it was decided to write to the Secretary of the Union to the effect that several of tlicir representatives cannot see their way clear to make tho deposit, and unless arrangements can be effected by the Union, they will be unable to travel. This fact is to be regretted, but two or three of the chosen ones are idle at the present time, and it would certainly be a hardship to expect them to find the money. 1 sincerely hope some arrangements may be made, to enable the team to fulfil its engagements, but unless a stiong fifteen is available, it would be far more preferable to postpone the tour mil il the Union have more funds at their disposal. As the team are to go on Monday next, immediate action is necessary. F. JlcGoveni cannot obtain tho r.ccessary leave for the tour, and this fact alone places tho team at a serious disadvantage.
The Champion junior team of Canterbury—a native one—commence a tour of the North Island next week, and arrangements are •being rando to play Kotabitangi at Greylown on tbo 22nd, mid the Junior" reps" atllnsterton on the 24th. The latter match should bo a great draw, and the Union should benefit thereby, The Wairarapa Union have for years passed been in a ohronio state of" low water," and lam pleased to understand that the presont officers arc trying their utmost to promote a bettor slats of things for the futuro, and in all probability, with careful administration of tho management, the end of the present season will place the Union out of debt, and on a firm fooling. Tho indebtedness to the Napier Union of £1.3 has been paid, and with the proceeds fum the iir.it" rep " match in Masterton, the Uuion will recovor itself from the careless mismanagement of past seasons. In the handsofthepresont Secretary aud Treasurer (Messrs McGovern and Jeffries) a far better stato of things may bo hoped for,
