SENSATIONAL CONSPIRACY CASE.
Sydskv, August 9. A sensational conspiracy case lias been occupying the Court, Last year Judge Wimlcycr granted Tlios. lliclmrd Butter, a decree nisi for divorce from his wife, on the ground of adultery with George Williams, whose real numc has since been ascertained to be Clins Davis. Subsequent revelations led the Crown to prefer against liutler, Dan's and a woman named l'cake, a charge of conspiring to falsely accuse Mrs liutlor. Evidence was submitted to prove that Davis and Peake were paid by Butler to lead his wife astray in order that the latter might obtain a divorco. All the accused have been found guilty the jury adding a rider that Mrs Duller had not committed thcoffence for which tho divorce was granted. Mer and Davis were sentenced to seven and Fcake to four years. i Mr ltopc, who acted as solicitor in the divorce proceedings, has also been arrested on a charge of conspiracy,
