WAIRARAPA NORTH COUNTY COUNCIL.

ORDINARY MEETING. The ordinary monthly meeting of tho Wairarapa North County Council was held yesterday. Present—Crs von Ecdeu (chairmau), R. Maunsfll, J, Stuckey, F Groves, E. Smith, D. Guild and Cockburn-liood. MIHUTES, The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, LEAVE OF ABSENCE. Leave of absence was granted to Crs llandyside and W. H. Beetham from (he present meeting. FELLIIfU ROAD USE. Mr Wilfred Woolfo wrote asking that his road line be felled, and offering lo do the work at £1 ]2s (id per aero. ASSISTANT CLERK. Mr G. 11. Terry wroto resigning hi j position as assistaut clork, on account ofill-healtb. The resignation was accepted with regret, and Mr Moore authorised to appoint a successor at the same salary. ROAD DEVIATION. From G. H. Groves re road lino deviation and putting in pegs. Resolved that the clerk look up the minutes of the Alfrcdton Road Board on thismatler andreportat next meeting. RESISTING A SURVEY". Mr A, P. Hawson wrote slaliug that Mrs O'Connor had resisted his making a survey at Teiiui,' Ho had, therefore, to dpfcr making tlic survey.' The question of legal authority was disciissea aiid also t]ie fact' that no iiotice'had been given qf the Council's intention to take the land and make the survey. The Chairman that If thoy stand on legal ground they should not withdraw from taking the land under the Public Works Act. 1 SLipQHTER-HOp: LICENSES. A. If,' Berry wrote, Siting 'that he desired a license to slaughter'at Pungaroa. Tho Clerk stated that no Inspector's report had yet been made, and in tho matter of advertisement tho Act was not strictly complied with. Resolved that the license ht granted on % satisfactory report being supplied by the Inspector. Natier's thirds,

RE-NAMINO lIAWERA. Mr R, Smith wrote stating fhat it was agreed by the settlers to suggest re-naming Hawcra as Hainua. It was resolved to inform the Lauds Department of the decision. TIBAUMEA URIDK.

Mr Geo. Gray wrote asking when the Bridge at Pori Road would bo creeled and pointing out that the ford was dangerous. - Resolved to reply that, the Council had'rio funds available for expenditure on yofkß on private property.
