At the Geographical Congress, Professor Kan, of Amsterdam, read a paper on the exploration of Western New Guinea, and declared that the Dutch Geographical Society hoped shortly to survey the South Coast, betweon Skral and 141 st degree Hast, Mr David Lindsay read a paper o* unexplored Australia. He believed an expedition to Central Australia and along tho Western Watershed, would repay the cost. Received, August 3,15A0 a.m. Svuxev, August 2. Mr Wragge, the Queensland meteorologist, in a letter to tho press in reference to the proposed Antarctic expedition, states that the data obtained would be of tho highest importance as bearing on meteorological problems affecting Australia, and that if the seasonal forecasting is to be satisfactorily solved for Australia, it can only be by means of a complete discussion on the Antarctic factors in their bearing on Australian seasons, Immense light, he says, would bo thrown on tho conditions attaching to the formation and development of disturbances producing some of the heaviest weather and curious seasonal characteristics on the Australiancon tinent. Mr Wragge hopes that the Colonies Trill most cordially assist tho proposal.
