CARTERTON NEWS.

From Our On Correspondent. Friday. Mr Charles Dakin, a pioneer settler of the Wairarapa (and wellknown Wesleyan) died in an apoplectic fit, yesterday. He had driven bis wife into Carterton that afternoon, and left her at the Prcsbytorian Bazaar. Shortly after he had returned homo he was seized with the lit, and notwithstanding ho had the services of Dr. Johnston, he died in two hours. Mr Dakin was 70 years of age. The Presbyterian Bazaar was opened yesterday by Mr W, C. Buchanan, M.H.R., and was a complete success. It is being continued to-day.
