Au interesting game was played on tlio Oval on Thursday between teams chosen by Messrs Morris and Hansen, tho former composing players from the country, and the latter from the town. Somo heavy scoring was done by both sides, ultimately resulting in a win for tht townites by 21 points to lfi. A number of spectators braved the elements and, were rowarded by witnessing some line individual play, interspersed with amusing and instructive situations—in the mud pools. A number of native players made the'fun particularly interesting. Mr Harland acted as referee, 1 hope to see both senior and junior " rep " practices well attended to-morrow at Carterton and Greytown. In past seasons players have been very lax in putting in an appearance at these fixtures, but now that we have so many men in the Wairarapa of almost equal merit, each player wishing for a place will have to look io his laurels. The teams published on' Thursday should make a very interesting display, and it is quite on the boards that two or tbreo of the senior fifteen may be " replaced " after to-morrow's match. The junior A and B teams are almost equal, and an excellent" rep" fifteen should be the res.ilt. The White Stars were defeated at Carterton on Thursday by the Rovers by three points to nil. The score was gai'ied by a penalty goal, the ball just striking the bar and rolling over, thereby winning tliegame. The Violets journeyed toGreytown on Thursday to meet the Feathcrston Frothers, but the latter not putting in an appearance, the Masferton boys kicked olf and claimed the match, The Violets are now the winners of the '2nd class trophy, with three points lo their credit, Featherston having gained their protest against the White Stars,
