ing to arrange the visit of the Wnirarapa Junior "reps" early next if month. The proposed tour of the Star Club to Palmerston lias been abandoned for the present, owing to the Wairarapa" rep" team going South, and the necessity of several of their players attending practices. At the end of the season, however, it is probable the anticipated tour will be carried through. It is stated that Keogli, the crack Otago half-back, is unlikely to play again in consequence of serious injuries received in a recent match. Tho following is the likely Auckland touring teamSmitb, Snrman, Gage, Wynyard, Ronayne, Braund, Brady, Gittos, Murray, McMillan, Hcfferman, Whitely, Green, and Donald. season The United Greytown first fifteou, were entertained by several enthusiasts, on Saturday evening last, to a smoke concert, at Host Roger's Greytown Hotel. Mr J. D. Heagerty occupied the Chair, and about 50 odd Bit down to a sumptuous spread. The following toasts were duly honoured and suitably responded to: —" The Queen," " Guests of the Evening," coupled with the names of Messrs E, Udy and Magaire; " Winners of the Junior Clmrapion«hip," coupled with the name of Mr H. Pratt;" Kindred Sports," coupled with the names of Messrs Rowse and I'R, Bright; "The Chairman," "The r Press," coupled with the names of Messrs Roydhouse and Wood;" The Secretary, United Greytown F.C." "The Ladies,"coupled with thenames of Messrs Haigh and Olliver; and "Mine Host." During the evening the following gentlemen contributed jongs : Messrs Rowse, Hornblow, Puki, Pratt, Phillips, Tomkins,Amos, Maguireand Olliver. A pleasing little ceremony also took place. Mr E, Jdy as Captain of the team presented Mr H. Mitchell with a handsome silver mounted pipe, on behalf of tho first fifteen, as a mark of the esteem in which ho is held by his fellow players. The affair was brought to a close shortly before 11 o'clock by the singing of" Auld Lang Syne." Aucmaxd, Saturday. About three thousand people were present at Potter's paddock to witness the football match Poverty Bay v. Auckland. The game ended in favour in tho homo team by 14 points to nil.
