Tho regular fortnightly meeting ' of the Masterton Borough Council was held last evening. Present— His Worship the Mayor, and Crs Hornblow, Hessey, Yates, Mutrio, . Wngg, Cullen, Foist, Chamberlain, . 4 and W. Perry. , ( MINUTES. . Thi minutes of last meeting were , read and confirmed. A CLAIM. I Messrs S. Luke and Co. wrote with reference to an account due to them, enclosing bill of particulars, The account (£3B 8s 9d) was 1 ] passed for payment. AllflOK day, , The Department of Agriculture < wrote stating that the 7th of August U had been set apart as Arbor Day. WAIrOUA BRIDGE, ' The Clerk to the Wairaranu North County Council wrote with' c referenco to the Waipoua Bridge'| disputed account. ' Tho Clerk was instructed to fur- F nish full particulars of the contract " i for repairs, which was let sonio four 1 years ago, £ BAI.ASCE SHKKT. F The Borough balance sheet was " presented to tho Council duly '> audited, s It was decided to have the sheet v printed and circulated. '> A SIIISASCE. ( T. Collier wrote complaining of v the rubbish deposited at the end of Dixon Street. c x It was decided to request the c Inspector of Nuisances to look into the matter. v rom.ic worms, t The Public Works Department '1 made application for a copy of the ( Borough Building Regulations, as it n was proposed to erect a new Stock a Office at Masterton. ' The Mayor thought some active steps should bo taken ro widening d of Perry Street. 1: Cr Cullen moved that tho matter be referred to the Works Committee I which course was adopted. t fitXEIIAI,, Cr Hessey asked that the attention of property-holders be called to „ the spread of hawthorn hedges in [ ( some parts of the Borough. He j would also draw attention to loose „ barbed wire, hanging over the foot- a path in a dangorous manner, in one or two places. „ It was resolved to direct tho ( attention of tlio Inspector of \ Nuisances to these matters. t Cr Hessey applied for, and was „ granted two months' leave of „ absonce. jk Cr Hessey said that the work on „ .
