MONTHLY MEETING.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Wairarapa North County Council was hold yesterday. Presenters F. von Reden (Chairman), It, l l '. Maunsell, J. Groves, D. Guild, and E. Smith. MIXTTES. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. SUUMITF.K MCK.V.SK. A slaughtering license was granted to J. A, Ferry. KATE 1101,1,. John P. O'Connor, J. \\ r . O'Connor, T. M, O'Connor, and P. C. O'Connor, applied to have their names placed on the Rate Roll for the Akitio Riding. The applications were granted, Several other applications were before the Council, but boing informal they were not considered. IMMi'ROVKD VAU'K. Mr Astbury, chairman of the Stratford Council Committee replied to (he question of the Council re unimproved values. The letter was ordered to be laid on the table. SMITH'S IlßlDiiK. The offer of Mr J. Benton for effecting repairs to Smith's bridge j was referred to the Engineer. ! IKAVI) OF AIiSEXCK. Leave of absence was granted lo Cr Handyside, for the present meeting. IUiSHFELLING OX ROADS, From Mr Turkington, n felling Bush on road lines.—On the motion of Cr Smith, this matter was held over till next meeting, to allow the Engineer to make surveys, and ascertain the necessary expenditure. From T. 11. Groves, applying for cost of felling bush on roads in the Alfredton Riding.—Referred to the Eketahuna Road Board,

The plan for (.lie bridge at Napier's Crossing, having been returned from the Public Works Department, it was resolved that tenders be called for the erection of the bridge. returns of loans. The Secretary to llie Treasury wrote in reference to the Council's application to make Road Hoards supply returns of loan areas, and loans raised, and further asking under what Act the Council desired the authority. Unsolved to reply, asking that provision be made in the new Local Bodies Act, or failing its passing, to be made in an amendment to the County Councils Act.
FINANCE COMMITTEE. The report of the Finance Committee, was read and adopted, as already published. engineer's KI'.rORT, The Engineer's Report was read to the meeting. It was resolved that the attention of the Engineer be directed to tbc condition of the Koad between the Black Gate and Saundors' flats. 1 The report was then adopted. iuwera. The Clerk was instructed to write to Mr Smith, of Onslow Park, asking what name has been decided on for Hawera. COUNTT COUNCIL CONFERENCE, It was resolved that the Chairman be requested, when the question comes before the County Councils Association, to support rating on nnimproved valuo for local purposes. STRAY CI'JTIE. It was resolved that tho rangers in Ekotahuna, be authorised to take any cattle found on the roads in the Alfredton Riding to theMauriceville pound, The Council then rose.
