From Our Oien Correspondent. Thursday. Mr W. Corlott, whilst engaged in a metalling contract at Kokofau yesterday was thrown from his cart in crossing a narrow culvert. The wheel went over his body. He was carried to his homo at Parkvalo, and Dr Johnston found he had four ribs broken. On Saturday night last a man named Spotliswood was riding a lioi so and leading another down Belvedere Road, when he came into collision with a cart driven by Mr W. A, Merrick, through the latter suddenly swerving his horse, it is j said. The cart shaft pierced the horse, which bled profusely, and had to be left in Mr G. Osborne's livery stables, ' Mr Harry Monro, after ton years service at tho local office has been promoted to the Chief Telograph Office, Wellington, whore ho will have more scope for his abilities, He was ever pleasant and attentive to his duties.
