THE WHAKATAKI POST OFFICE.

Since the death of the storekeeper and Postmaster at Whakataki, there lias been a rallior unsoemly scramble as to who should occupy his postal slippers. It appears that the local schoolmaster's wife has carried off the prize, but the opposition being strongly represented on the School Committee, it has ratbor : ungallantly declined to allow the school residence to be used as a Post Office, Under the circumstances, a ! portable office, which will bo useful also for telephone purposes, is to bo provided.
