An amendment lias been carried in tho Assembly fixing the duty on bottled beer at a shilling and bulk at 9d a gallon.
Perth, July 3. There is considerable excitement at Coolgardio owing to tho delegate sent out to the local new rush at Lake Cowan failing to lind gold. A large excited crowd gathered round the Courier and Golden Age newspaper offices, which wore charged with publishing unsupported rumours, and attempts made to smash in the doois, and most of the windows were broken by showers of stones. The Warden eventually induced the mob to disperse.
