MAURICEVILLE ROAD BOARD.
ORDINARY MEETING.
The ordinary meeting of the Mauriceville Road Board was held on Saturday, the 29th June, Present, Messrs 0. Forsberg (eh .irman), J. F. Heckler, 0. 'fait, P. Gleeson, and F. W. H. Kummer.
The minutes of the previous meeting wero read and confirmed.
The following correspondencrf/as dealt with;— From Commissioner of Crown Lands re " third " from Section 9, Block IV., Miki Miki, Pram Musterton Road Board, with reference to the proposed subsidy towards widening the track fronting that part of Section 9, Block [V., Miki Miki, situated in tbe Masterton Road District, and intimating that the amount previously offered (£25) is too little. ItwasresoM to increase tho proposed sulifcy to £35. W From the Secretary to the Treasury, notifying tho Board that tho loan of £250 for Johnstone's road is now available—From the Under Secretary for Lands, with reforenco to the application for assistance to repair damages caused by tho late floods, and stating that the Government cannot comply with tho request until Parliamont has passed the estimates. From Mr A. Falkner, offering to purchase the timber on tho Raka-roro road reservs.—lt was decided to call for tenders fcr tho purchase of this timber. Sixteen applications were received for the post of permanent man. After consideration tho list of suitable applicants was reduced to three, when a ballot resulted in Thomas Thrupp being chosen. Tho following tenders wero received for Gundersen's bridge: - Brenmuhl & Hunter, £73 ids; C. E. Daniell, £49 4s (accepted); C. Hauberg, £52105. For briAr on Cleland's Road :—Brennttftand Hunter, £124; C. J. Williaiifpl23 10s (accepted); C. Hauberi;, £124; C. Tate & Co., £149 ss; 11. E. Daniell, £l3O.
Jt was 2'esolvcd to strike a general i rate of fd in the & for the current* year, tho Clerk was also instructed to calculate tho special rales on llio basis of the recent valuation of proporty'in the district.
Mr Salter made an offer to rebuild the bridge recently destroyed, but tho Board was unable to accept his offer.
It was decided that several of the members interview Mr Salter, and see whether some arrangement cannot bo arrived at. Instructions were given lo notify Mr Homy Neilsen to remove the trees which ho lias foiled across the Mangaoaonga Road. Cheques amounting to £Gul IDs were passed for payment.
