MEETING OF CREDITORS.

ESTATE OF W. EEEBLE.

The first meeting of creditors in the estate of Wm. Keoble, of Maslerton, was held to-day, the D.O.A. (Mr W. JJ, Clicnnells) presiding. The creditors present or represented '■ were Messrs P. Hood, T. Wagg and Co. Nees and Grant, and Hornblow &Co. "k Mr Pownall appeared fortho bankrupt. The bankrupt in a written statement, statod that in April 1894 he had, in company with Mr Wm. Neill, ' taken a leaso of tho Prince of Wales Stables, and they wcro doing fairly well till he bad the misfortune to break his leg in January last, During the time he was in the Hospital Mr C. F. Vallance, who held a bill of sale, took possession under a bailment, and he had no knowledge of Ihow matters stood in relation to the partnership. The bankrupt on oath stated that in the partnership they had agreed to work on equal shares. They had no capital, but started on a bailment over the whole ot the plant for £575, carrying a rental of eight por cent. >' interest. The rent of the stables was £2 5s per week. They worked in harmony till witness mot with tho accident. After goine; to the Hospital he endeavoured to ascertain how tho business was going on, but could not do so. He understoodihat Mr Vallanco took possessionil|jhit *.. Ist March, and lie got nothing out of tho business since he met with the accident. At the time he mot with the accident negotiations were in progress for buying out witness' share of the business, which, if completed, would have put him in a position to pay all his private debts. A Wellington Loan Company.got ll judgment against him for £35, and tog9therwith this they sank whatever they made out of the stables in improving the plant and horse"B.« which had been allowed to run" down. He had not spoken to Neill since he came out of the Hospital, ■ and had no account of what had ''*' been done with the money collected since his accident. The private debts were mostly incurred while lie was in tho Hospital. He had no offer to make to the creditors.' The D.O.A. said that the case of Mr Keeble was a most unfortunate one. For his own satisfaction, he ' | would require to get the statement of the expenditure of the money collected by Neill, which he had just heard Mr T. C. D'Aroyflbd received. On the motion of Mr Wngg seconded by Mr Hornblow, it was i resolved to recommend that Mr : i Keeble be granted his immediate discharge, ■■'. • ,
