♦ WM*>r> London, June 9. During tiro performance of the opera "Faust" at the Covent Garden Theatre on Saturday night, the scenery caught fire, and a terrible rush took placo for tho doors. The majority of tho audienco, however, had the Bense to remain in their seats, ■ The opera was for a time temporarily stopped, and Madame Melba appeared in front of the curtain in her Marguerite costurao, and secured the attention of the spectators, in order to prevent the panic spreading. . Her cooluess and bravery were loudly applauded.
