GREYTOWN NEWS.
From Our Oicn Correspondent. Saturday, Our town has been fairly besieged by " unemployed " men during the past week. Yesterday, at the north end of tho town, tliero wero nine taking it easy in one lot, and after a brief consultation they visited the mayor. In the afternoon another batch came into the town. They all appeared to bo able-bodied men, and are apparently strangers to this district. The design of Mr F, H. Wood's new miction rooms are very imposing, and the structure when finished will be a credit to the town. There must beat the present time fully 200 Maoris residing in the town. To-day our local bakers have risen the price of bread. Tliey assert that they had to adopt this courso through the rise in Hour. A very sharp frost was experienced here yesterday morning. Fish kawkevs are plentiful down this way. This is due to tho number of Natives in the town. In connection with the Wesleyan tea meeting to be held hero next Thursday there is to be a special novelty in the shape of a bachelors' table, presided oyer by two blooming young damsels. This should be a good enough inducement for our bachelors!
