MAURICEVILLE NOTES.

From Our Oim Correspondent, Tho bachelors of Mauricevillo held their annual ball on Friday night last (Queen's Birthday) at tho Choral Hall. The affair as usual was most successful, overforty couples occupying the lloor and a most pleasurable night being spent, The music was supplied by Messrs Gray and Kearsly,of Masterton, assisted occasionally by local talent, and gave the most complete satisfaction. The refreshments provided by Mr Cottiss fully sustained his reputation as a caterer, and everything passed off in a most pleasant manner.

Mr G. Gundorsen, tho Honorary President of the Bachelors' Society, attended and'opened the ball, dancing with the prettiest girl in the room, Messrs G, Brooks and J, Gleeson acted as Musters of Ceremonies and contributed not a little to tho success of the ball by their assiduity and attention. Visitors from a distitnco pronounced the affair the most pleasant of tho kind they had ever attended,

Death has removed a inucli respected resident in tho person of Mrs Broderson, the wife of Mr John Broderson, of Mauricevillo East,who passed off after a protracted illness, on Thursday last, The deceased was a great sufferer,and death came as a reliof, Her funeral took place }on Saturday evening last, and was largely attended, Tho interment took place in the Mauriceville cemotery. The deceased leaves ,a grown up fumily to mourn her loss.
