WAIRARAPA PASTORAL AND AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.

ANNUAL MEETING. Tho annual meeting of tho Wairarapa Pastoral and Agricultural Society, was held on Saturday, about fifty mombcrs being present. The balance shoot, which was adopted, showed a profit on the past year's transactions, of £l3O. This reduces the overdraft, when outstanding subscriptions aro collected, to less than £3OO, awl Mr W. Booth, Treasurer, made an offer of £25 towards wiping out the indebtedness, provided £250 was raised. Mr W, C. Buchanan, M.H.R, the President, pat his name down for a liko amount, and others subscribed from £5 downwards, until between £7O and £SO was promised in tho room, and thero is ovcry prospect of the required amount being subscribed.

Several new members were elected, ft was resolved the Society support an agricultural paper, published quarterly on the lines of the paper published through the Royal Agricultural Society of Great Britain.

It was resolved that the General [ Committee be recommended to give to members tho privilege of admitting one lady to tho grounds free. The following important resolution was passed, a copy to be sent to all kindred societies, viz: " That in view of the prevalence of anthrax and pleura-pneumonia in certain portions of Australia, tho Government will be urged to exclude all such stock, except nuder strict quarantine regulations." A circular from the llawkc's Bay Society was endorsed, to the effect that it is essential for the proper supervision of tho stock industry, aud in tho interest of consumers of meat, that the services of some Eminent bacteriologist from Europe, be secured to examine and report on sheep and cattle diseases in the Colony,
