The block ,of. three acres of land in Hobson Street, which the ratepayers recently refused to allow the Council to purchase for a Recreation Ground, has been purchased through the firm of Bothnne & Co., by Mr D. Ziman, of Johannesberg, for the sum of £8,500. Mr Ziman, who is on a visit to New Zealand, intends inspecting the mines in the Auckland district, with the intention of introducing capital, and to develop any property ttat will appear to turn out a profitable investment.
