TENUI NOTES.

From ti Cumipomknl.

A meeting was held in the Town Hall on Tuesday night, for the purpose of forming a Christy Minstrel Troupe, a fair number being present. Mr R. Owen was voted Secretary, and Mr T. Webb, Stage Manager, It was decided to hold tho next meeting on Tuesdiiy the 7th inst., for the purpose of arranging matters more definitely. It is to be hoped the undertaking will prove a success, such as tho promoters certainly deserve. It will be the first entertainment of its kind that has been got up in Tenui, and i hope it will not be the hist.

! The bachelors held their first dance hist Friday, and it passed oil" very pleasantly, all seeming to enjoy themselves. In spile of the bad weather people came from a great distance. The Committee deserve great credit for their trouble in decorating the Hall with ferns and shrubs, having bad to go some miles away for them, No doubt, they are a " young" lot of bachelors, but nil the more credit to them ! Tho elder ones seemed to have lost all spirit for dancing.

The Whareama Football Club held theii first practice last Saturday, but owing to the heavy weather not many turned out. lam afraid footI ball, like everything else in Tenui, has died a natural death, all the old veterans have given the game up probably to look after their matrimonial affairs.

Our school teacher (Mr Joplin) is soon about lo leave Tenui for Mauiiccvillii and Mr JlcKenzie is to fill the vacancy. In Mr Joplin the local cricket club have lost a good man. 1 will not say much about the weather as it is not the best we could wish for.
