A PITIFUL SCENE.

A man named Henry Ryder, a wharf labourer, expired fluddonly at • 11.40 a.m. to-day, He was engaged on a frozen meatvan, loading sheep into tho steamer Aotea, when he suddenly fell forward and died instantly. Ho was an industrious, steady man. Deceased leaves a wife and children. Ryder's dinner was usually taken to him at the wharf, and a messenger was sent to turn back the little girl who generally took :t, On tbis occasion the child came down by another way, missed the messenger, and met the procession carrying tho dead body of her father to the Casual Ward, A very pitiful scene followed, tho child being almost heartbroken,
