Monday. A special meeting of the Town Board was held on Saturday eveni'ig, when a general rate of ; }d in the C, and a library rate of one-sixteenth of a penny in Ihe £ were confirmed. The following tenders were received for delivery of 13C3 yds of metal :-T. Lawry & Jos. Tockcr, Is 2.|d per cubic yard, (accepted) ;W.II. Goodick, Is 3d per cubic yard; E. Kelly Is 7d per cubic yard; and for digging 350 yards of drain on Donald's Creek :- J. Fellingham and J, Bye, lid per yard (accepted). The Clerk read a letter from the Under-Secretary for Justice, stating that the Government docs not see any necessity for a right-of-way to the Courthouse. There is a rumour that the Minister for Justice is coming up himself to sec about the matter.
The Itoad Board met on Saturday and confirmed the striking of the new rate. At the" hob hop" held on Friday evening, for the Town Hall Piano Fund, over four pounds were taken.
